Mizuo – Official page of the village of Mizuo Kyoto

The village of Mizuo is located in the north-west of Kyoto city and the foot of Mt. Atago.

Mizuo is known as the “birth place of yuzu cultivation in Japan.” Ground Water from Mt. Atago and the cool climate help grow the greatly aromatic quality Yuzu (citrus fruit).

Mizuo is also known as the village which Seiwa Tennō (Emperor Seiwa) chose as his place of seclusion.
Please visit the village of Mizuo with its gentle, peaceful people and landscape.

Access

4km from JR Hodukyō Station to Mizuo.
(By walk: about 1 hour / Community bus: about 10 min)
Please use the convenient community bus.

Services not available on Tuesdays,  Fridays, New Year holidays, and Obon holidays.

You can take extra services of the community bus during the season of Fujibakama (bonest flower) viewing gatherings.
